wORLD WATER DAY

This year, we visited schools all around the world and asked the students:

From the US to the DR to Nepal and beyond, kids wanted to be baseball players, ballerinas, writers and dreamers. Across cultures, students told us the amazing careers they planned for themselves. We know the best way to achieve those dreams is by going to school. Unfortunately, it’s all too common for children to miss school due to water-borne diseases.

Every child should have the opportunity to be what they want to be when they grow up

When we asked José, "What do you want to be when you grow up," he responded with, "Oh, so many things." He told us he wants to be a writer, publicist and maybe a graphic designer one day. • He went on to tell us how water, sanitation and hygiene in schools are exceptionally important to get rid of germs. Because with germs comes sickness, and when you’re sick you can’t go to school. • Our goal is to reach 6,000 children this #WorldWaterDay by partnering with teachers to bring clean water and sanitation and hygiene education directly to the classroom. What a wonderful film premiere event in Charlotte! Thank y'all so much for coming out and supporting us. We had so many favorite moments that night, but here is one quote from the filmmaker that really stood out: • “Spoiler alert, it’s in the film, but [Radha] talks about how before he was considered really smart by his peers, he was considered crazy, and I think that’s amazing that he was so tied to what he was doing that he could push through being called crazy to the point of then being called brilliant,” said Matt Rath, “I Can. I Do.” Filmmaker. • “I think if we give up in anything we probably should give up, cause if we’re not willing to push through being called crazy, then maybe we don’t have the passion for it that we should, like [Radha] did.” • 💧Radha is our master ceramicist. He creates ceramic water filters that produce clean water in the Dominican Republic.💧

Josh Elliott @jl_elliott, our Director of Global Operations, is with our wonderful Dominican Republic team visiting the DR filter factory. He posted the perfect description of our ceramic water filters, so we wanted to share it: • "How does the filter work? When the filters are fired in the kiln, all of the sawdust is burnt out. This leaves tiny little micropores in the filter wall that are smaller than the bad stuff (E. coli) in dirty water." • "If any bad stuff does happen to be smaller and pass through the micropores, the colloidal silver acts as a backup. Silver is a natural anti-bacterial!"
