Field Note #120: Interning to End the Global Water Crisis

Over the past year, I have become more interested in the Global Water Crisis that most of the world is facing. Coming from a country where I don’t have to worry about clean water is truly something I took for granted before I was involved with Wine To Water. I recently accepted a position with the Peace Corps as a volunteer in Zambia. Since I will be living in an area where the people are hugely impacted by the Global Water Crisis, I knew I wanted to become more involved in an organization that helps fight it. Wine To Water was a perfect fit!

I heard about Wine To Water through a friend and fell in love with their mission. After learning more about what Wine To Water does, I decided I had to apply. I was ecstatic when I was offered the position as Volunteer Coordinator Intern. I work with all of the volunteers to make sure they are able to take a life changing Wine To Water trip. These trips can include building wells in Nepal to making water filters in the Dominican Republic—all fighting the Global Water Crisis.

I wish I could stay with Wine To Water longer, but I am excited for someone else to have the opportunity to intern here! I have had an amazing experience working with the staff and other interns, and I have learned so much about Wine To Water’s mission. If you are thinking about applying for an internship, I HIGHLY recommend it!
