Field Note #80: Meet Barry, Our IPM in Cambodia!
My name is Barry Hinds, and I will be heading to the country of Cambodia in the beginning of February to begin working as an International Program Manager (IPM) for one year. My interest in Wine To Water began in 2015 when I had the opportunity to travel to the Dominican Republic on a volunteer trip with WTW. The experience was eye-opening for me. I realized just how bad the world water crisis is and how necessary organizations like WTW are. I had known for a while that my heart was calling me to international missions, and with WTW, I found my match.
My main function in Cambodia will be to increase the amount of information we have coming out of the country and to assist with the numerous projects planned for this year. On top of that, I will also be surveying new areas to plan for future projects, as well as hosting volunteer teams that are sent in.
Cambodia is a country that is in desperate need for assistance in re-developing after the tragic genocide in the 1970s. It is a beautiful country, with many loving people who just want to live peacefully. If you have never been on one of our volunteer trips, I highly recommend it; it can very possibly change your life. If you are planning to take your first trip, or if you are coming back for more, I hope to see you in Cambodia this year!
